ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS |
|
As you know we all live on a big sand pile on the edge of Centerport Harbor. EVERYTHING drains into the harbor and into our ecosystem. The ‘foam’ you see at the Mill Dam bridge is from phosphates (the cleaning detergent foaming agent) from the surrounding homes and businesses that flow from their septic tanks to the groundwater and into the harbor. PLEASE try not to spray chemicals or use fertilizers on your property. The balance of nature is critical for our children's future and health. Use only natural organic predator insecticides (bird feeders attract birds to eat caterpillars) and organic compost for fertilizer. Research what you use. Organic pesticides and chemicals may be just as bad as their non-organic cousins. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE LABEL. Be proud to be chemical free. Remember to recycle and reuse any disposable product you can. The future depends on everyone's cooperation. |
