For nearly a century, Huntington Beach has been a vibrant enclave that families have been proud to call home. Our association hosts summer camp for our children, while residents enjoy boating, kayaking and other water sports from the largest private beach on Long Island’s North Shore. As we approach our centennial, your HBCA Board is proactively allocating significant resources to maintain and improve our physical assets for years to come. This is not a new priority. In recent years, membership dues have contributed to a new boat ramp, new siding on the pavilion, full blue stone coverage of the parking lot (2023), new playground equipment (2024-2025) and a new security system (2025). But, as our physical assets continue to age, the list of needs and repair priorities continues to grow.

We need further financial support from membership to continue with HBCA’s ongoing capital maintenance.

A Capital Improvement committee, comprised of both current board members and past board presidents, was formed to assess our physical assets and prioritize key renovations, repairs and physical enhancements. After completing an extensive bidding and contractor vetting process, the committee recommended, and the Board has approved, a major renovation of the Casino as our first capital expenditure. Through the years, our beloved Casino has served as the venue for countless HBCA events, parties and family gatherings. But more than 20 years of heavy use, and damage from the elements, have taken their toll. We are expecting that in early February, pending the completion of the permit process, we’ll launch a major renovation, including repair and replacement of basement joists, beam and sub-flooring, new flooring and columns, replacement of three exterior doors, each of which will include a portico and a fully renovated kitchen.

Beginning this January, the annual HBCA member registration form will include a line for Capital Expenditure Contribution. The suggested contribution is $100. Contributions will be optional. Every household that participates in helping us establish and grow the HBCA Capital Expenditure fund will be recognized with a special HBCA member sticker. This is not simply a 2026 initiative. We are in this for the long-haul. Your support, through membership and Capital Expenditure Fund contributions, is essential. Our proposed project “wishlist” is extensive and includes renovation and upgrades to our dock, pavilion, the Casino roof, bathrooms and exterior, as well as beach renourishment. The Board is confident our efforts to maintain and enhance our physical assets will ensure Huntington Beach continues to shine as an amazing place to call home!
