Coins For Ukraine

Dear HBCA friends and neighbors, Let’s join together to help the refugees of Ukraine in an easy and effective way. We’ve all got at least a few coins laying around our house, in junk drawers, jars, or our car cup-holders, to name just a few places. Sitting there, they serve no useful purpose. Put together, these add up quickly. What if we all looked around, collected these coins, and donated to organizations working to help refugees from Ukraine? (The International Rescue Committee, founded by Albert Einstein, and World Central Kitchens, founded by chef Jose Andres, are two excellent charities on the ground in Ukraine and Eastern Europe right now.) Together, we can make a meaningful contribution. Let’s do it! Here’s how to help:

  1. Collect the loose change in your house. Ask your friends and neighbors to do the same.

  2. If you use social media, spread the word and coordinate a pick-up of coins from those in your circle.

  3. Contact me to arrange a drop-off or pick-up of your donation.

  4. Contact me if you or your kids would like to help sort and wrap the coins for deposit at the bank. This would be a great way to earn those community service hours students are looking for.
